Pitch Dark
Pitch Dark, 2017

Various locations, amongst others in Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

Pitch Dark was made in collaboration with cellist Katharina Gross and composer/percussionist Arnold Marinissen. For me it is a new experiment, a chance to express my fascination for light in a different way. It is an interplay of sonic and visual impulses, and the low-tech light scenes in the performance are inspired by the neuro-physiological effects that sometimes appear in your vision: the images, afterimages, and movements you see with your eyes closed.

The performance premiered in the Verkade Fabriek. During the longest night of the year Pitch Dark was performed in het Stedelijk museum, for the 'Nacht der Lichtkunst' it travelled to the Center for International Light Art in Unna. Pitch Dark was part of the Oranjewoud Festival Frieslanden and the Bach Festival in Dordrecht, and was featured in het Veem theater and de Vodelbonker in Amsterdam.
