Genk, Belgium
On a tunnel wall of the E314 in Genk, a 46-meter-long horizon has been installed at eye level. A horizontal slit in the wall reveals various recognizable and abstract landscapes and vistas of the natural surroundings of Genk.
New perspectives balancing between reality and phantasmagoria. The images were created using AI techniques in collaboration with multimedia artist Cem Berendsen. The artwork is powered by solar panels integrated into the nearby bike path.
Endless Horizon revolves around the continuous movement and transformation of the landscape. It reflects the beauty of nature in its many forms: the rhythm of swaying reeds, the playful reflections on the water, and the symphonies of color in the sky. It is an ode to the dynamic character of the landscape, the dreamed and desired terrain, and the significance nature holds for us as humans.
With thanks to ecologist Jos Lycops and the residents of the Stiemer Valley, for their conversations about nature.
